Job Summary
Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital is hiring a full-time Surgical Technician. The Surgical Tech assists surgeons during procedures by preparing operating rooms, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment. They work with the surgical team to ensure a smooth surgical process and provide support as needed.
Essential Function
- Assist in preparing the operating room for surgery by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure that all necessary supplies and equipment are available and in working order.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures.
- Maintain a sterile field during surgery by following proper aseptic techniques.
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and other team members as needed.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs during surgery.
- Assist with positioning and draping the patient for surgery.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments for sterilization.
Non-Essential Functions
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Complete annual education requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Wear BCMS issued identification badge while on duty.
- Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
- Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Comply with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
- Ensure adequate staffing of assigned departments.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years’ experience working in a Surgical Center and/or Operating Room.
- License/Certification: Surgical Technologist Certification, Preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology as well as surgical procedures.
- Experience with EMR systems, (Meditech Expanse).
- Work independently, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize scheduling of work.
- Complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, and others in a professional manner.
