CT/Radiology Technician

Ed Fraser Hospital is hiring for a CT/Radiology Technician, PRN. The CT/Radiology Technologist is qualified/credentialed to perform at a minimum of two (2) MRI, CT, diagnostic, US, IR, Mammography or Nuclear Medicine procedures. This position must support the second or additional modalities on a routine basis by being available to work in the modality and must be able to provide on call coverage for these modalities. Strives to provide patient centered care. Upholds the standard of practice of a registered technologist.

Essential Function

  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
  • Assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedures, making appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Support and maintain a culture of safety and quality.
  • Take the initiative to intervene immediately if needed for patient safety.
  • Position and shield patients accordingly.
  • Prepare imaging rooms prior to examinations.
  • Keep procedure room clean and neat, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining basic records and reports.
  • Assist in maintaining files.
  • Compile and maintain quality assurance information for mammography in accordance with ACR, state of Florida Department of Health standards, the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Keep supplies adequately stocked.
  • Handle patient/family communication in a professional manner and appropriately to patient age, condition and cultural needs.
  • Provide patient care and follow up appropriate to more than one area as assigned.
  • Oversee patient scheduling.
  • Communicate exams/procedures to patients.
  • Document all findings accurately.
  • Maintain patient log for CT and x-ray.
  • Perform all daily equipment checks for quality assurance.
  • Maintain the facility in clean working order and report any equipment failure or deficiencies to the Radiology Director.
  • Accurately documents any incidents and reports them to radiology leadership.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines set forth in BCMS policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the state of Florida, required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.
  • Credentialed, certified, or licensed in a minimum of two (2) different Radiology modalities through the state, ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS, required.
  • Two years of CT and radiologic imaging experience, preferred.
