Baker County Medical Services, Inc. encompasses a 25-bed licensed rural hospital, a 68-bed skilled long-term care facility, and a 10-bed 24-hour emergency room. Our facility is situated in a rapidly growing area, offering comprehensive healthcare services including family practice and rural health clinics with state-of-the-art ancillary services. Macclenny is located just west of Jacksonville off Interstate 10 in Baker County.
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Physician specializing in Gastroenterology to join our multidisciplinary medical team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating digestive system disorders, utilizing advanced medical imaging and endoscopic techniques. This role involves providing exceptional patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings, contributing to clinical research initiatives, and collaborating with other specialists to deliver comprehensive gastrointestinal health services.
This position requires a Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school. Candidates must have completed a residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Board certification or eligibility is required.

Work schedule is weekdays 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (no weekends).
Duties:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations related to gastrointestinal conditions.
- Perform endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and upper GI endoscopies to diagnose and treat digestive tract issues.
- Manage complex cases involving gastrointestinal diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, liver disorders, and motility issues.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) system to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on perioperative care plans for patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgeries or procedures.
- Engage in clinical research activities aimed at advancing gastroenterology practices and treatments.
- Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care strategies.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of gastroenterology principles, procedures, and emerging treatment modalities.
- Proficiency with EHR system and other medical imaging technologies for diagnosis and documentation purposes.
- Experience performing endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD).
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to digestive health disorders.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic radiology images pertinent to gastrointestinal conditions.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Critical care experience is desirable for managing acutely ill patients requiring intensive monitoring or intervention.
