W Frank Wells Nursing Home is hiring a full-time CNA.
Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist the nurses in the providing of resident care primarily in the area of the daily living routine.
Essential Functions
- Support the facility’s philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives.
- Be sensitive to residents’ families and respond in an appropriate professional way as the situation requires.
- Carry out assignments for resident care including (but not limited to):
- a) bathing
- b) dressing
- c) grooming
- d) shaving
- e) feeding
- f) restorative nursing procedures
- g) transfers
- h) turning and repositioning
- Ensure all residents receive mouth care, hair care and are dressed appropriately each morning.
- Keep residents’ bed, dresser, bathroom, and general living area clean and tidy, making beds daily.
- Answer call lights promptly.
- Help check in all new residents and re-admissions, as well as assist in the transfer of residents to different rooms.
- Put resident’s clothing and personal belongings away properly.
- Report any changes in resident’s condition–e.g. eating habits, behavior, temperature, etc. to the assigned nurse of the unit.
- Turn bedridden residents every two (2) hours or sooner as indicated.
- Wash, clean, and dry all incontinent residents.
- Assist the treatment nurse as assigned.
- Complete assignment report to charge nurse at the end of every shift.
- Be responsible for well-being and nursing care of all residents assigned to his/her unit while on duty.
- Take vital signs and monthly weights (with assistance) and record results as assigned.
- Document the following in POC for all assigned residents:
- a) vital signs
- b) weight
- c) meal monitoring
- d) bowl and bladder
- e) restorative records
- f) ambulation
- g) assistance level
- Detect and report situations that have a high probability of causing accidents or injuries to residents and/or staff.
- Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions, i.e. spills, excess carts, etc. and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day.
- Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing nursing procedures/care.
- Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that equipment is cleaned and prepared for the next shift.
- Ensure that work schedules are followed and if necessary, the proper procedure for notifying the nurse on duty of any shift that you will be late or miss.
- Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights.
- Attend nursing department, Care Plan, and other meetings as directed by the DON or ADON.
- Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as scheduled or as directed.
- Turn in Days Off and payroll special request forms in a timely manner.
- Follow established fire, disaster, safety, infection control, and evacuation policies and procedures.
Non-Essential Functions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the DON, Unit Manager, Administrator and Nurse.
Professional Requirements
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Complete annual education requirements.

- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wear BCMS issued identification badge while on duty.
- Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
- Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Comply with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicate the mission, ethics and goals of the organization.
- Participate in performance improve and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.
- Ensure adequate staffing of assigned departments
Qualifications
- Current licensure as CNA in Florida.
- Current BLS certification.
- Long-Term Care nursing experience, preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be physically and mentally capable of performing routine, repetitive job duties.
- Show willingness to provide good nursing care.
- Be considerate, pleasant, and professional in the performance of his/her duties.
- Must have compassion, tolerance, and understanding for the residents of the facility.
- Must maintain licensure, updated BLS/CPR and all training requirements as required.
- Must possess high-degree of resourcefulness as it relates to a thorough knowledge of hospital management principles and practices.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including effective communication, both oral and written.
- Proven professional judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations.
- Work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize scheduling of work.
- Maintain confidentiality of all staff, medical, financial, and/or legal related information.
- Complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.
